The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?
Monitor ration and water levels

Information on ration ingredients and composition is sourced from the livestock production and/or feed plans. Completed |
Evidence:
Ration levels, composition and consistency are assessed and potential production and health issues identified for different pens and classes of livestock. Completed |
Evidence:
Strategies are identified for emptying wet, mouldy and fouled ration from bunks; exclusion of animals from inappropriate rations. Completed |
Evidence:
Water quantity and quality are assessed to meet animal requirements. Completed |
Evidence:
Inspect pen status and condition
Information on pen group status is sourced from the livestock production plan. Completed |
Evidence:
Pen infrastructure including feed bunks, feed apron and water troughs are assessed together with animal feeding behaviour and performance and potential issues are identified. Completed |
Evidence:
Strategies are identified to address control of leaking troughs; exclusion of animals from damaged bunk and apron area if necessary. Completed |
Evidence:
Pen surface conditions and animal behaviour are assessed in consideration with prevailing weather conditions. Completed |
Evidence:
Strategies are identified for increasing or decreasing stock density, provision of access to shade, pen drainage or cleaning and ration modification. Completed |
Evidence:
Assess manure condition
Manure consistency and colour is assessed and potential production and health issues identified for different pens and classes of livestock. Completed |
Evidence:
Strategies are identified for including increased roughage in ration, courser processing of grain and observation and treatment of sick animals if necessary. Completed |
Evidence:
Check Pen Hygiene
Feed bunks, aprons and water troughs are assessed for fouling and unhygienic build up waste. Completed |
Evidence:

Strategies are identified for resolving animal production and health issues and worker Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) concerns, including cleaning of area to prevent odour and insect problems. Completed |
Evidence:

Report and record incidents as required
